UCLA Local Scholarships

All UCLA ALD|PES members are eligible to apply for the local scholarships:

2 Distinguished Service Awards worth $1000 each
4 Academic Awards worth $500 each

These scholarships recognize those students who have attained the highest standards of academic excellence while embodying the ALD|PES values of resilience, compassion, and service.

Applications close April 13, 2024, and the winners will be announced at this year’s Induction Ceremony!

JO ANNE J. TROW SCHOLARSHIP

We know paying for college can be difficult. Institutional merit-based scholarships are helpful, but sometimes they are not enough. That’s why ALD now offers 50 undergraduate scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 each. With over $105,000 awarded annually, ALD strives to assist their members in completing their undergraduate degrees. Make sure to get your applications in by April 1st 2024.

*Your application will be reviewed at the chapter level for verification of membership and level of activity in the organization. If your application is selected by your chapter, it will be forwarded to the ALD scholarship selection committee. National deadlines listed on the application website are one week later than the UCLA chapter’s actual deadline, so make sure to get your applications in on time!

JAMES G. STEMLER STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP

ALD|PES members interested in studying abroad can apply for the James G. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarship, worth between $1,000 and $2,000. Submissions due by March 1st, 2024.

If your application is selected by your chapter, it will be forwarded to the ALD scholarship selection committee. PES National Scholarships

FOUNDERS FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, Phi Eta Sigma awards more than $300,000 in scholarships at the national level through their Founders Fund program. Phi Eta Sigma prides themselves in awarding scholarships to students who have demonstrated leadership, service, academic excellence, and a commitment and involvement within Phi Eta Sigma.

Scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate students. PES offers a variety of resources including webinars and best practices, so that our students can put their best foot forward in the application process. Scholarships include:

$10,000 James E. Foy-John W. Sagabiel Undergraduate Leader Award (1 awarded)
$7,000 Distinguished Member Scholarships (37 awarded)
$5,000 Undergraduate Student Scholarships
$1,000 Member Scholarships

Applications for all awards are available through a single common application on the Phi Eta Sigma website. Optional letters of recommendation may be submitted, and each application submitted will be sent to UCLA's chapter’s advisor for verification of membership and level of activity in the organization.

* The application form will become available January 7th, with a deadline of May 1st. Award recipients are notified over the summer, and awards are dispersed by August 15th each year. Please note that for UCLA students, scholarship application will be due April 24, 2024 (one week before national deadline of May 1, 2024).
